5 Drugstore Foundations for the Fair Skinned Beauty
1:49:00 PM
Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who's the fairest of them all?
Me. It's me, Ricki, I'm the fairest. It's not as glamorous as it sounds.
All jokes aside, as someone with such a fair complexion, finding foundations to match my skin tone has been a challenge over the years. Add to that my preference for full coverage foundations, and it seems I'm just out of luck if I'm trying to get anything under $25, right? Usually. However, I do have a few foundations that I gravitate towards that really work well with my skin, and as that's one of the questions I'm asked the most I thought I'd share those with you!
1. The first foundation I'm going to showcase is the one I currently use; Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation. This is an AMAZING full coverage foundation, and the thing is (get ready for this) that it doesn't oxidize. You know what I mean, when you get that new foundation and you think it's a perfect match, and then WHAM-- Oxygen hits it and you turn into an oompa loompa all of the sudden. That's not an issue I have with this foundation at all! Another really nice thing is that the lightest shades they have, Porcelain and Ivory, seem to be made for either cool or warm skin tones, respectively. It's nice to have a foundation that really does help even out my skin tone.
{Protip: this Foundation applies best with a damp beauty blender}
2. Second on my list is Revlon Colorstay Foundation. This is an old favorite of mine, dating back to my senior year of high school. You know, back when I just thought I needed full coverage foundation. This one comes in at number two because it does have great buildable coverage, but it was also gentle enough on my skin that it didn't cause breakouts.
3. L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation. This is for those of you who are really looking for a matte foundation. Amazing coverage, amazing formula. The best (and worst some days when I'm being slow) part of this foundation is that it dries SO fast. I mean, you have to work it in quick. Once it dries though, it's staying, so I really can't brag enough on this one.
4. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. Of course I will mention this one as it has received rave reviews. I myself like it as well, especially for days when I want a more natural look. This is the best foundation to use if you're looking for something you can build on. My ONE issue with this foundation is that is oxidizes on me so so very badly. I'm not sure if it's just me, because I seem to be the only person I know with this issue, but I look like a cheese puff half the time when I use it if I don't set it immediately. As long as I do that, however, it does match my skin very well and it's an amazing formula as well!
5. Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation. This isn't at the end of the list because of the way it works or applies, simply because I thought of it last honestly. This is a foundation I'm surprised I don't hear more about because it's wonderful. This is a great foundation for my ladies out there who have oily skin. Blot no more, dears! This foundation gets a thumbs up from me.
So now that my top five are listed, what is it that these foundations have in common? Well, for one, I can wear them and not worry about having a severe difference in the color of my hands and the color of my face (sorry Kylie, I had to). The other similarity to keep in mind is that these are all on the full coverage end of the spectrum, and most of them are matte. These are based on my preferences and my experiences with using them.
So, pale girl wandering through the isles of your local Wal-Mart wondering if you're going to finally be able to find your HG drugstore foundation this time, look no further! If you try one of the foundations listed above, please let us know in the comments!
Stay ghost-ey, my friends.
