What Oil Pulling Did For Me.

Hey guys! Tori here, and today I wanted to share with you my week of oil pulling. I'm always intrigued to read these type of posts, so I thought I could share with the people who have the same interests as well! I've come to adore coconut oil. I never knew how many amazing things one simple oil would be able to do, especially when it comes to oral health.

Some benefits from oil pulling:
  1. Cures tooth decay
  2. Heals bleeding gums
  3. Soothes throat dryness
  4. Heals cracked lips
  5. Strengthens gums and jaw
If I've peaked your interest in learning other things about oil pulling, the history of it, or a longer list of benefits, please take a moment to check out the Dr.Axe article. It gave me answers to all the questions I had. Now without further ado, my experience with oil pulling:

Day 1: I'd read many people start out with a tablespoon, but wanting to get a feel for it, I went with a teaspoon instead. At first, I was thrown off by the unusual texture of it going from solid to liquid, mostly because you have to chew and slosh it around to help it dissolve. Once all of that was done, it was fine. If you like the taste of coconut, like myself, then this will be easy peasy for you! I was SO glad I went with just the teaspoon, because the oil actually ended up doubling in size!  How crazy is it that that's how it works to pull the toxins from your body, right? After about 10 minutes, I spat it out in a cup and threw that away. This oil becomes solid at room temperature, so you can imagine what kind of fun it would be if that went down your drain haha. After rinsing, brushing, and flossing, my whole mouth felt super clean! I've heard of people saying they can tell an immediate difference with their teeth being whiter, but to be honest, I really couldn't tell at all. However, it helped out with my chapped lips, which was a plus!

Day 2 - 4: These 3 days I did 10 minutes as well. The oil size had slacked off, but I did notice that my teeth were whiter than before!

Day 5 - 7: Since I'd become accustomed to the oil, I began doing 15 minutes. Other than the oil doubling in size again, I couldn't tell differences with anything else.

Overall, this was a great experience! I would need to do this more than a week to see all the effects of what oil pulling has to offer, but some of the results I did see were: my teeth were whiter than before, my lips didn't chap as much as they normally do, and my throat didn't get as dry as it normally does! This could possibly become my nighttime routine, especially with knowing all the positives coming from it. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who's curious to try it out! If you oil pull, or have tried it, please leave a comment letting us know your experience with it, and until next time, have a wonderful rest of your week!
